The Provision bark is sun-dried and used as an everyday tea or for medicinal use to build the blood for those with anemia, low blood pressure and to increase energy. The history of the tea can be traced back to the mahogany logging camps and countryside of Belize.
The bark is brought to a rolling boil. The tea is traditionally prepared with milk, sugar and will turn a coral color; thus a local name is pink or red tea. The tea is without a strong taste and is enjoyable as prepared or over ice.
The tree grows near rivers and around waterways, barks are harvested from mature trees in a sustainable manner
